I'm certainly lacking in my Rhythm and Blues collection. I know I like some of Erykah Badu's stuff, including this song in particular, but I am open to suggestions if anyone has any to broaden my horizon. There is certainly much I have never heard, but then again I suppose that is true across all genres. I have a day job to keep, you know!

I have all Badu's albums, I'm definitely a fan, Baduizm is the best, IMHO. Some of my R&B favs… Jamie Lidell, Mofro, Winehouse, Macy Gray, Jamiroquai, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
Jill Scott, Joss Stone, En Vogue, Maxwell, Lauryn Hill, D'Angelo are worth checking out.
There's the standards… Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Ndegeocello, Simone, Prince, Supremes, James Brown, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett… a greatest hits from each of those guys should be plenty. Or just get The Big Chill soundtrack. :)
Atlantic records put out an awesome series called "Right On! Atlantic Breaks and Beats" that is AMAZING, you should try looking for it.

I had a feeling you would be the one to ask! "The standards" list I mostly know, so I am good with the old school R&B it would seem. Some of the others I have never heard of. My 90s & 00s R&B knowledge is weak weak weak. I do like Lauryn Hill though!
