Azam Ali – "Sackpipslät" (2002)
2010/10/16
I was listening to some Renaissance dance songs and they are hopping! Actually most of them kind of sucked. Interesting, but I'll pass on most of them.
In the process I came across this one by Azam Ali on her album "Portals of Grace" which is mostly medieval music that she did not write, but are actually ancient songs. This one caught my ear and *might* be a genuine medieval song, but aside from being included on this album with the note "instrumental, Sweden" I can find no proof on the vast Interweb (and I haven't the time to dive into the archives of my nearest Swedish medieval music library to verify it!) So believe it is ancient, or believe it was written in 2002, does it really matter? Either way it is history!
PS: Azam Ali was born in Iran, making her an unlikely source for such a song!
