I know Lana Del Rey is being sold as "pop" and there is a lot of hype around her, but I am surprised. She reminds me of Nancy Sinatra with some touches of Florence + the Machine, Cat Power, and Beth Orton. These are not "pop" names. I am also hopeful because maybe, just maybe, everyone has realized they don't just want to listen to the same songs over and over, and that there are other artists that deserve the spotlight for a moment. I have yet to hear the full album by Lana Del Rey, but I like what I hear so far.

I also know people will now be forced to hate it because too many other people like it, but that is just silly.
