Ronnie Foster – "Mystic Brew" (1972)
2011/01/12
The "secret song" is not so secret. Especially when it is of the same name! "Mystic Brew" by Ronnie Foster! In truth I could not pick between posting Vijay Iyer Trio's cover / extrapolation, or the original acid jazz version itself. Why choose!

The Crystal Method – "Born Too Slow" (2003)
2010/05/17
I cannot help but notice I feel tired these past few days. I've been sleeping plenty but I have to wonder if the months, nay years, of stress are catching up with me. Like I'm actually sleeping for all those times I couldn't. I'm slowing down too. You may call it "relaxing". I am bad at it, but I am trying. Hence the reason this is being posted in the PM instead of the AM. We will see about tomorrow.

Evil Nine (feat. Aesop Rock) – "Crooked" (2004)

This song (and video) is cool. I just wish I could rap along, but I can only do the chorus.

Esthero – "Breath From Another" (1998)
2010/02/22
I have a slightly melancholy kind of beat going off, like an alarm reminding me the weekend is over and it is back to work for a long week. To make it worse I sit at the beginning of what will be several weeks of a grueling project that I am the point man for. A project that was supposed to be finishing up, but in truth it appears to have just begun. I suppose it could be worse (things could always be worse), but it could be better too!

The Chemical Brothers – "Let Forever Be" (1999)
2009/10/15Things can be so frustrating! I know my options though: take control or accept what comes. Surrender or don't. Like what Yoda says "Do, or do not. There is no 'try.'" In the mean time, "scream out sympathy" and watch the fun video.

Sasha – "Mr. Tiddles" (2002)
2009/10/14
I was in the midst of a techno & trance binge when Sasha's "Airdrawndagger" came out and it hit the spot. It set the bar so high for me, it effectively ended my binge. The entire album is worth a listen as though it were one continuous song, because there are no breaks between songs (as is frequently the case with a trance album). Of all the tracks on the album, I always think of this one as my favorite. The resonating ethereal beats and pings have a mesmerizing quality, and the song has an intricacy often lacking in trance.
Or perhaps the hypnosis has finally worked and I am now telling you, "buy now, pay later" … *grunt* … "listen to trance, forget what I said about zombie rock" … *grunt* *take one step* *drool* … *grunt grunt* … *eat brains* … *grunt*
