Ok so yesterday I was ready for blood. But I am not a punch you in the face kind of person. I've been punched in the face a few times. It hurts. No, I planted seeds that may grow to punch people in the face while I sit back and watch. Then again nothing may happen. Slow and steady wins the race. Either way, I feel at least somewhat satisfied. Gorillaz was like a musical revolution to me. On this album in particular each song is so different, pulling from all sorts of influences, and yet there is a tone to the album in its lyrics casting off ideas about what a band is, or what genre they might be. (That is how they get classified as both "Brit Pop" and "Alternative Hip Hop" at the same time). I really thought this sort of collaborative music and group might spawn others, but I have yet to see any lasting or substantial evidence of that. I'm still hopeful it will and I'm hopeful it will not be too long before we see another album from Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's creation.
