CSS – "Move" (2008)
2011/03/01
If someone drops you on the floor and you dont know who did it
just flick your hair and try to kick as many people as you can hit
…isn't that nice?

A real man of the people. Or at least the people who agree with his moral values. A couple of gems from what he said…
"I didn't march in the gay parade this year — the gay pride parade this year. My opponent did, and that's not the example we should be showing our children."
"I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don't want them brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option — it isn't."
I have a song for him! But I don't repeat songs. Some grinding to the Scissor Sisters will have to do!
Frankly I don't care how good anyone thinks his fiscal policy is or whatever reason you may have for supporting him. I'd rather be broke than vote for this asshole!
Oh and his explanation (and explicit "no" to "owing anybody an apology") only digs the hole deeper in my opinion:
PS: Props to Andrew Cuomo (his chief opponent) for marching in the parade!
CUOMO 2010 WOO HOO!

Add N to (X) – "Plug Me In" (2000)
2010/02/15
I look at all the songs I've posted, and then I look at all the songs I hope to post eventually, and the numbers are crazy! Even looking at how many artists I have yet to share a single song from is daunting. If I didn't need to sleep… oh the hours I could gain! If only I could just plug myself in to keep my batteries charge. I'll just have to share some bonus songs more often I guess, like this one!
PS: For those who are aware of this song, and the very dirty, X-rated (or at least NC-17), not safe for work, video that goes with it, you can watch it here. If you are watching the original video for the first time, be warned! It is dirty!!! Why am I linking it then? Knowledge is power and yay to the freedom of speech! That's all I've got to say!

The Knife – "Silent Shout" (2006)
2010/01/13Today was another one of those days when I am left questioning why do I do what I do. I spend so much time on the acquisition of money to survive, yet it seems I could be doing something far more purposeful and meaningful. It is only magnified by the insanity at my primary occupation of late. It all stirs me like a some sort of primal and subliminal beat only I can hear, driving me to do something about it. It is not unlike this song. It haunts me.

Goldfrapp – "Fly Me Away" (2005)

I hate the idea of "Black Friday"… a day when hoards of people seem to suddenly realize they only have a month to do their Christmas shopping and thus feel driven to wait in lines to get into stores, let alone the lines to get any service or through the checkout. The retail stores in response encourage this behavior with only slightly better prices than they will give for the next month, and only on certain items. Ultimately they hope to sell out fast of the "loss leaders" and tempt desperate shoppers to buy the more expensive model or version which may not even be on sale at all. Sure you might get a better price on this or that but ultimately they are not trying to help you out. The stores are helping themselves out and unless you know the game on Black Friday you will probably lose (See "10 Black Friday Secrets Retailers Don't Want You to Know").
I refuse to shop in the stores on Black Friday. I do however enjoy a little Christmas shopping during the weeks that follow in December. Perhaps it is the memories of going to the mall and department stores with my family when I was young, more to see all the decorations than to actually do any shopping. The decorations are certainly less impressive now that I am older and can see through the wasteful marketing, yet there is still a magic to it. There is still that perfect world picture in the back of my head while I am shopping, thinking I am picking out the ideal gift for those I love. It is like clean crisp snow coating the world in a blanket of perfection.
This song reminds me of that feeling. After being featured in several Target commercials a couple years ago, I hear it play in my head sometimes when I am out shopping and it makes me happy. Euphoria sets in as I make my selections of hopes and dreams, some of which are not presents, but are actually for me. It has occurred to me months before or after the holidays while shopping for items I probably do not need, yet I am compelled to buy.
It is inexplicable, and I do feel at odds with myself at times because I am generally opposed to the acquisition of stuff and the over consumption we are guilty of in the USA. However, I am a sucker for these ads, and although Walmart is dead to me, I don't feel the same animosity towards Target. The brainwashing has worked in this case, and the catchy tune certainly helped.
Here are four of the Target advertisements that featured Goldfrapp's "Fly Me Away", though there may be more.
