Elton John – "Your Song" (1970)

2010/04/22

I'd like to dedicate this one to The Illustrious G. I'm still chuckling from the other day when she was yelling at me about the laundry baskets. An insufficient number of baskets were in the basement to receive the clean laundry because I had moved some of the empty ones upstairs to collect the dirty laundry. I went out the next day and purchased three new shiny baskets to alleviate her laundry woes. What is funny about it is later when I said she didn't need to "yell" at me about it she said "I was not yelling… I was explaining loudly." Too funny!

PS: If you haven't heard it, the cover version from the movie Moulin Rouge, sung by Ewan McGregor, is well worth a listen!

Elton John – "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" (1983)

2009/05/23

I was watching the "No Meals On Wheels" episode of The Family Guy, and this song was in it. I yearned to hear the song again this morning.

I forget sometimes that I really like some of Elton John's songs. I resisted liking any "soft rock" as a teenager (except I made an exception for Billy Joel). I have since given up that fight because of songs like this. I love the line "Time on my hands, Could be time spent with you". I need to try it out on G, oh but she knows the song. Well I'll try it out anyway. *wink wink* Seriously though, it is a great love song, particularly for those separated or away for a time.
