The Cure – "Just Like Heaven" (1987)

2009/04/13

This bonus song was my song of the day on 3/12. (I'm still working on posting my songs from before I started this blog.) Although frequently thought of as dark, emotional, and perhaps depressing, it is The Cure's happy songs that I really like best. They are an emotionally loaded band for me because I have listened to them at times of great joy and great sorrow in my life. This song is one for great joy and hopefully makes you want to dance as much as it makes me.

Cocteau Twins – "Half Gifts" (1996)

2009/04/07

There is a layer of snow outside where there wasn't yesterday and it seems surreal, not unlike today's song of the day by the Cocteau Twins. It is like a sort of sleepy unreal ethereal state of mind has fallen across the land. I long for spring and summer but I do love snow so I don't know if this weather cause for dancing or sorrow, either way I think this song fits in the quiet early morning light.
