Gravity Kills – "Guilty" (1996)
2010/03/24I need to release some stress. I need some Industrial. Don't you need some Industrial too sometimes? No I am guessing most people turn to other things… punk perhaps, metal and all of its forms, hard rock even. Sometimes I reach for those, but today I feel like some Industrial. Industrial hit me at the right time, but just doesn't have as wide an appeal as I thought it might back in the 90s. Time for me to dig out my Nine Inch Nails and God Lives Underwater for a couple more weeks until I am free of my current burden.
By the way, this song may be familiar from movies like Seven (a classic but disturbing movie) and Mortal Kombat (maybe not so much).

I played Guitar Hero 3 not long ago, and this song is stuck in my head. I like this remix by Nick Zinner, guitarist for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, better than the original (probably just because of the rocking beat and guitar riffs), but you decide:
I think that with Halloween approaching it is only right to start playing some Halloween friendly music. In fact I'll try to give you a different one each day from now until Halloween. There is so little actual quality "Halloween music" that isn't gimmicky or kitschy. I've always thought of Marilyn Manson as a good pick for Halloween though.
To prove my point, listen to "The Beautiful People" and tell me it does not incite ghouls and goblins:

Nine Inch Nails – "Closer" (1994)
2009/07/23I feel like some Nine Inch Nails this morning and I think "Closer" is their crown jewel. Perhaps I want NIN because I feel a bit like the spinning pig's head in the video?
Some of you may recall the video was too much for MTV and had to be censored. Fortunately the one above is fully intact: nudity, gagged Trent Reznor, and monkey on a cross!

God Lives Underwater – "All Wrong" (1995)

I've decided rather than ignore all my previous TSotD songs from before I started this blog, I would list them as the "Bonus Song of the Day" starting with 3/27/2009 and going backwards to the beginning. Then those songs would still have a place on my blog.
Friday 3/27 was the day I decided facebook was not going to work for me anymore, hence this song from God Lives Underwater. A lot of people have an album or song they play when they are pissed. For me God Lives Underwater's "Empty" is that album, and "All Wrong" is that song. Even though it sounds tame compared to some newer bands, it cranking it still gets a surprised or disdainful look from most people.
