G's mid-winter blues are setting in right on schedule. She is starting to plan a get away to other less cloudy and grey places, which helps to alleviate the seasonally induced funk. As is usually the case, I am unable to take more than 1 day of vacation until sometime in May or perhaps June. Such are the terms of my corporate servitude. So I am sad she'll be gone and sad I cannot join her. *sigh* I usually get a lot of chores done the week she is gone though, so there is that. Of course last year the basement flooded, so while she was in Arizona enjoying some sun and clear skies, I was cleaning the basement. *double sigh*

By the way, if Beth Orton and Lily Allen were to merge into one singer, I think Jem would be the result. I know Lily Allen came afterwards though so maybe it was Lily who was influenced by Jem who was influenced by Beth. Or maybe it is all just a coincidence. Thoughts? Speculations?
