Matisyahu is kind of awesome. "American Hasidic Jewish reggae musician", as he is defined on wikipedia, with strong rock and hip hop influences, is an unusual package, and makes for some interesting music, whether you like it or not! I know this is old news (to those of you who have heard him), but to me, his music is a good example of part of "the story" in music this past decade, where we see influences from multiple genres, and multiple parts of the world coming together to create something familiar, yet unlike anything before.
