The Fall – "It's the New Thing!" (1978)

2011/02/23

I like to think of The Fall as the link between Punk (e.g. Sex Pistols) and much of the rest of Post-Punk (e.g. Franz Ferdinand comes to mind). …with perhaps a touch of the Noise Rock.

Rather than post a new one from their latest 2010 album (The Fall just released their 28th studio album, if I counted correctly), I thought I'd go back to their first single in 1978! (I think I might like it best too!)

Echo & the Bunnymen – "Rescue" (1980)

2010/11/18

If I said I'd lost my way
Would you sympathise
Could you sympathise?
I'm jumbled up
Maybe I'm losing my touch
I'm jumbled up
Maybe I'm losing my touch
But you know I didn't have it anyway

The Stranglers – "Waltzinblack" (1981)

2010/10/24

"Waltzinblack" is not typical of The Stranglers' work, and is more of an quirky intro to the album. I totally dig it as a creepy waltz, and whoever created the video slideshow above is right to think of clowns and carnivals as the setting for this dark dance. I watched Stephen King's "IT" when I was a bit young for it. Clowns are creepy!
