The Black Angels – "Young Men Dead" (2006)

2010/10/23

I've been a little sick the past week, but unable to take any days off because I have to finish a project related to studying influenza. Ironic, no? This song has a nice "dragging my sick ass through the day" pace and is nice and dark for the coming end.

…I mean the end of the month, Halloween, of course.

VV Brown – "Everybody" (2009)

2010/10/06

We all strive to be different, unique, and yet not so different that we are considered weird and outcast. I know it is a tough "tightrope" to walk, oh wait, that is a different song.

The Marvelettes – "Please Mr. Postman" (1961)

2010/09/23

Classic. Period.

Here are The Marvelettes live:

I guess The Carpenters' cover isn't too shabby either, but the original is the good stuff.

Toad the Wet Sprocket – "Fall Down" (1994)

2010/09/02

I had a weird dream the other night. My right leg had been caught in some sort of machine and below the knee was stripped of all flesh leaving only the bones. And yet my foot bones, toes and all were still attached, and even movable at my command. My walking was impaired though, so I went to the doctor to see what I should do. However I kept asking the doctor questions and he kept asking questions right back. He was kind of a jerk about it too. In the end it was clear I was going to have to find my own "solution", but when I turned to leave, I fell down. I had lost control over the bones. That part of me was gone. Dead. It was then I woke up.

When will we fall down?

Eric Johnson – "Cliffs of Dover" (1990)

2010/08/31

Sometimes I think it would be awesome to have music playing all the time, where ever I go. Little speakers poking out of trees, furniture, mailboxes, etc. A soundtrack for my life. Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" song would have to be on there for the excellent melody and awesome guitar. I mean just check out some of his riffs in this live performance…

And then I think, thanks to my assorted musical devices and other people playing music (and the singing of the birds and assorted insects), I kind of have that already! Music is everywhere.

The Troggs – "Wild Thing" (1966)

2010/08/24

I was humming this in my half awake state this morning. As a wild thing, I just can't help myself. I didn't realize it, but The Troggs only covered this song. It was originally written by "The Wild Ones" in 1965 I listened to a clip of it here and I understand why The Troggs' version was the hit.

Let's not forget about Jimi Hendrix's many covers of the song too! Here is but one:
