For months now, I can't seem to help but listen to Florence + The Machine. I've been a huge October Project fan for years, and Florence + The Machine reminds me of them. Florence + The Machine has the sweeping ballads but with an edge that'll cut out your heart and drink your blood. Beautiful and dark.

I just can't wait for the next album, allegedly due this year!

Somehow I missed that it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday, and I work at an educational institution! Kind of weird. I suppose it is different for my generation though. We were not alive when the civil rights movement happened and we take many of its fruits for granted. The notion that others don't deserve the same rights as me is a foreign concept.

Aside from equal rights, I think MLK Jr. should also be remembered for doing the right thing, in spite of the law, and in spite of authority. The law can be changed and any law that upholds prejudice based on physical attributes or beliefs must be struck down. Clearly we have a long way to go. And let's not pretend that segregation isn't still happening on a socio-economic level. We still have a problem!
