I have not posted nearly enough Oldies. So here is a bonus song!
When I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, there was one video there where they were talking about The Shirelles, and this song, and how for so many classic songs the lyrics are like bad or cheesy poetry…
…but put the right tune to the lyrics and you have a classic. (I am paraphrasing.) And this song is a classic!
It also gives me hope that if I can write a melody, then perhaps writing the lyrics won't be too bad. There are a lot of simple or even dumb lyrics in songs that are considered good. After all, it is all about "the beat, the beat, the beat!"
