Hold me close enough to drink my rose
The devil in my pocket turned to gold
Sorry to warn you, you're in a daze
Tonight I'll love you, but tomorrow go away
Today I will dance a little dance. I will be selling myself and then having others sold to me. A unique opportunity to be both the interviewer and the interviewee back to back. Will I buy or be bought? Or will I stare at the menu, my name upon it, and just order some water?
The little brass section in this song totally has me hooked. It is even more delicious than the really good brassy section of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good".
Thus far I have spared you all from any of the music I hear in my yoga class. Occasionally while we are in a pose for a long time (usually a resting pose), my teacher will turn on music. It is usually a Zen influenced piece of music, that many of you would not appreciate, but today it was some songs from Morcheeba's album "Big Calm". Awesome!
I love their first album and this was the first song I heard off of it. I remember when I first heard it back in the 90s and my friend said "You've got to listen to this." And we listened to this song, and we were in a sort of awe because we had not heard anything quite like it. I love that.
This song is like slowing down time only to realize there are still so many beats. A single moment can still have more to observe, absorb and feel than we could possibly consume and process. Think about it too much and it can be overwhelming to the point you can do nothing other than just breathe.
By the way, an alternate version, that I also recall being broadcast, is here:
Of course both of those are abridged versions for the videos. The original full version from the album is here:
Ok so yesterday I was ready for blood. But I am not a punch you in the face kind of person. I've been punched in the face a few times. It hurts. No, I planted seeds that may grow to punch people in the face while I sit back and watch. Then again nothing may happen. Slow and steady wins the race. Either way, I feel at least somewhat satisfied. It'll calm me down, talk me down from this place.
